Cheval Cathare in Cucugnan offers a two-day weekend ride.
We offer weekend trips in spring and autumn, departing from Cucugnan for the Cathar castles.
Enjoy two days on horseback and visit the two most beautiful citadels of the Mediterranean Corbières: Quéribus and Peyrepertuse.
Day 1
Arrival the day before available, please contact me
Meet at 8:30 a.m. at the Cucugnan equestrian farm (arrival the day before available, please contact us) over coffee. Introduction to the ride and the horses.
We take the time to explain the horse and tack to each person.
Departure for Quéribus Castle, perched on a rocky ridge.
Visiting the castle, taking in the immense panoramic views of the Mediterranean and the Pyrenees, still covered in snow in spring.
Picnic at the foot of the castle.
In the afternoon, we cross plateaus and ravines to the village of Padern, also topped by a castle, and Cucugnan.
Meal and night in our unique accommodations (yurt, caravan, Airstream, etc.).
Day 2
On Sunday morning, we set off to cross Parade Pass, along Verdouble Valley, passing through the traditional village of Duilhac-sous-Peyrepertuse and climb the pretty paths under the evergreen oaks to Peyrepertuse Castle.
Visit this majestic fortress, aptly nicknamed the "citadelle du vertige" (Vertiginous citadel).
Picnic at the foot of the castle and return to Cucugnan via beautiful forest trails.
End of this unforgettable weekend around 5 p.m.
