This little-known, wild and preserved mountain, away from the main roads and tourist towns, has become a refuge for wild species that you will often meet, not only see, but meet, particularly in the case of the Pyrenean chamois, star of this journey on horseback...

Magical and invigorating !

Day 1 : Sunday 

Riders meet at the equestrian farm in CUCUGNAN (11) starting at 6 p.m. 

For those who arrive early, you can visit Quéribus Castle and/or the pretty village of Cucugnan on your own.

Introduction to the horses, the team and the ride, meal and night in our unique accommodations: vintage trailers, yurts, Airstreams, and more.

Day 2 : Monday

Saddle up for Duilhac-sous-Peyrupertuse for your first day in a Mediterranean landscape. Here, limestone reliefs tower over valleys, the sun reigns supreme and beneath the rocky crags lies a welcoming land.
Night at La Bastide lodge, an ancient 13th-century Templar fortified town at the foot of the Pech de Bugarach, where Ingrid and Fred await us.

Day 3 : Tuesday

A beautiful, steep path leads us into the Bugarach Mountains, to the abandoned hamlet of Campeau. The Malabrac Plateau offers wide expanses for a superb gallop. We descend into Caudiès de Fenouillèdes Valley via the Missaut Ravine.
Picnic at Notre Dame de Laval. In the afternoon, we ride along the ruins of castles overlooking pretty lost hamlets to the Aigues Bonnes lodge.
We spend the night with Colette and Christian, breeders of Aubrac cows, in a small hamlet in the heart of the countryside at 650 m of altitude.

Day 4 : Wednesday

We "climb" to Tulla Pass with panoramic views of Puilaurens Castle and the Corbières Mountains, which we leave behind us. We cross the beautiful state forests of Lapradelle and Boucheville, then gradually reach the mountain pastures where herds of horses and cows graze freely.

Night camping at Le Caillau (Jau Pass) on Madrés Mountain at 1600 m of altitude in 1 and 2-person tents with a meal around the fire.

Day 5 : Thursday

A ride on the wild and beautiful Madrés Mountain, where we can observe the rich plant and animal life. Here, it's not unusual to come across large birds of prey, marmots, Pyrenean chamois and mouflons. These vast, high-altitude expanses overlook sublime landscapes. The picturesque Estanyols refuge (alt. 1800 m) overlooking two small lakes welcomes us for a most beautiful evening.

Day 6 : Friday

Departure via Sansa Pass towards Creu Pass (alt. 1715 m, over the vast Capcir Plateau with two large lakes.
Picnic at El Torn Pass (alt. 1865 m), famous for its spring. We descend to the Capcir Plateau, heading for the friendly village of Espousouille, where our horses will take a break before setting off again for other riders and other horizons...
Transfer by vehicle to Cucugnan for the night.

Day 7 : Saturday

Breakfast and the end of this wonderful adventure.

Departure

Riders depart. Transfer to Perpignan available.
